1. Overview

SpendSense is a personal finance tracking application designed to work completely offline. This Privacy Policy explains how SpendSense handles your information.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

SpendSense does not collect, process, store, or transmit:

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
Financial account details or bank information
Location data
Device identifiers
Usage analytics or crash reports
Advertising identifiers
Any data to external servers, cloud services, or third parties

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All data you enter in SpendSense is stored only on your device:

Expense records and categories
Budget and savings goals
Bill photos and receipts
Group expense data
Debt records
Recurring expense settings

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it yourself.

4. Internet and Network Access

SpendSense does not require an internet connection.
SpendSense does not make any network requests.
SpendSense does not connect to any servers.

5. Backup Data

When you use the backup feature, SpendSense creates a ZIP file saved to the Downloads/SpendSense/ folder on your device’s local storage. This backup file:

Stays on your device only
Is never uploaded anywhere automatically
Is your responsibility to manage and secure

If you manually share this backup file via WhatsApp, email, Google Drive or any other service, that sharing is entirely under your control and subject to the privacy policies of those services.

6. Permissions

SpendSense requests only the permissions necessary for its features:

Permission	Purpose
Camera	Capture bill/receipt photos
Read Media Images	Pick photos from gallery
Post Notifications	Recurring expense reminders
Write External Storage	Save backup on Android 9 and below only

Note: Additional permissions may be requested in future versions if new features are introduced. This policy will be updated accordingly before any such release.

No permission is used for data collection or tracking.

7. Third-Party Services

SpendSense currently does not integrate any third-party services.

However, future versions of SpendSense may include:

Advertisements — served by third-party ad networks such as Google AdMob. If ads are introduced, this policy will be updated to reflect what data the ad network may collect.
In-app purchases or subscriptions — processed through Google Play Billing. Google Play’s own privacy policy will apply to any payment transactions. SpendSense itself will never directly collect or store your payment or card details.

We will notify users of any such changes by updating this Privacy Policy and incrementing the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

8. Children’s Privacy

SpendSense does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected at all, SpendSense is safe for all ages.

9. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data depends on your device security (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We recommend keeping your device secured and regularly backing up your data using the built-in backup feature.

10. Data Deletion

To permanently delete all your SpendSense data:

App data — Uninstall SpendSense from your device. This permanently removes all records, settings, and photos stored by the app.
Backup files — Open your device’s file manager, navigate to Downloads/SpendSense/ and delete the folder manually.

Since we never receive your data, we have nothing to delete on our end.

11. Limitation of Liability

Backup & Restore
SpendSense provides a backup and restore feature for your convenience. However:

We are not responsible for any data loss, corruption, or damage that may occur during backup or restore operations
We are not responsible if a backup file becomes unreadable, incomplete, or corrupted due to device issues, storage errors, or any other reason
It is your responsibility to verify your backup files and maintain multiple copies if needed
We strongly recommend keeping your backup files in a secure location

Exported Files (PDF & CSV)
SpendSense allows you to export your financial data as PDF or CSV files. Please note:

Once you export and share these files, they are entirely outside our control
We are not responsible for any consequences arising from sharing, forwarding, or mishandling of exported files
Exported files may contain sensitive financial information — treat them with the same care as any financial document
We are not responsible if exported files are accessed by unauthorized persons as a result of your sharing actions
Always share exported files only through secure and trusted channels

General
SpendSense is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all liability for any damages arising from the use or inability to use this application, including but not limited to data loss, device damage, or financial decisions made based on information displayed in the app.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Your Rights

Since SpendSense collects no personal data, there is no data for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end. You have full control over all your data at all times through your device.

SpendSense is provided for personal finance tracking purposes only. The tax and EMI calculations are estimates based on publicly available information and should not be considered professional financial or tax advice. Always consult a qualified professional for financial decisions.
